Don't let paperwork keep you apart!Moving across borders is stressful, but bringing your pet to Japan shouldn’t be a nightmare. Japan is proudly a Rabies-free country, which means the entry rules are strict—but perfectly manageable with the right partner. At Shibuya Animal Medical Center, we’ve helped countless international families navigate the "7-month marathon" of Japanese quarantine. Our mission is to ensure your pet skips the 180-day airport isolation and for you to leave together from the airport stress free.🛡️ "Golden Rules" for a Smooth EntryTo avoid the heartbreak of airport quarantine, follow these steps in this exact order:1.ID First: ISO MicrochippingEverything starts here. Your pet must have an ISO-compliant (11784/11785) microchip before they receive any vaccinations. If the shot comes before the chip, the Japanese authorities won't count it!2.Power of Two: Rabies VaccinationsOne is not enough. Your pet needs at least two shots:The timing: At least 30 days apart. The type: Must be Inactivated or Recombinant vaccines. (Don't worry, we can verify your records!)3. "Ticket Home": Antibody Titer TestAfter the second shot, we’ll draw blood to prove your pet is immune. The Bar: A result of 0.5 IU/mL or higher is required.Pro Tip: This "pass" is valid for 2 years, so it pays to plan ahead.4.180-Day Countdown (Patience is Key!)The most important rule: Your pet must wait 180 days from the date of the blood draw before landing in Japan. The Risk: Arrive even one day early, and your pet will have to stay in a government kennel at the airport. Let’s count the days together to make sure that doesn't happen.5. Paperwork: 40-Day Advanced NoticeWe must notify the Japanese Animal Quarantine Service at least 40 days before you land. This secures your pet’s "reservation" to enter the country.6.Final Check & "The Stamp" (Endorsement)Within 10 days of your flight, your pet needs a final clinical check. Most importantly, you need the official Government Endorsement (the fancy stamp) from your current country. No stamp = No entry.❤️ Why Choose Shibuya Animal Medical Center? We know your pet is more than just an animal; they are family.
